We at The Real Songwriters of Melbourne are very proud to present the latest project from the RSOM Community from singer/songwriter Deshani Fernando.
Not only has her music allowed her to heal through the dark but she hopes that her music can bring comfort to others listening. Her debut single, 'Now' is the first chapter of this journey as it discusses themes of love, loss and acceptance.

"This song is about letting go; of the glorified ideal you had about someone and what they meant to you. About not feeling important to people who are important you- or were important to you. It’s about accepting that “things change, people leave, and life doesn’t stop for anybody’ as Steven Chbosky so aptly put it." - embxrs.
Produced by French born, Melbourne based producer Jozzy Pop, Deshani tells The Real Songwriters of Melbourne that this collaboration would not have been possible if it wasn't for joining The Real Songwriters Community. After connecting through an online Networking Night during lockdown last year, lyrics turned into song as they began recording and producing this song over many Zoom calls.
"Lockdown 2.0 was a big turning point for me and my music. When I stumbled across the RSOM Instagram page, I had no idea just how significant of an impact the online networking nights would have. Jena and the RSOM Community completely opened my eyes to the reality of working on and releasing my own music, and how it didn’t have to be this far-off dream but it was something that was so within reach!" - embxrs.
